Without using synthetic products, nihonga—which is born from the dialogue with and relationship to nature—moves in accordance with the change of seasons and a world of countless natural spirits (kami ). This world of nihonga is our profession.

Today, in the face of many intensifying crises such as environmental degradation and climate change, we seek to develop a sustainable society. Nihonga, remounted from the hanging scroll format to simple wooden frames, have many stories to tell: we feel now is the time to listen to them.

Nihonga—“Japanese painting”—is not the juxtaposition of Eastern to Western painting. What we rather wish to communicate is its sustainable thought that we hope the visitor will experience through this exhibition.
