From Silence, curated by Ernst Yohji Jaeger

At Shibunkaku Ginza, we are pleased to present an exhibition curated by Ernst Yohji Jaeger, showcasing his new works together with three artists selected by Jaeger himself and works from our collection.
 
Several years ago, we established our artist residency SAGA HOUSE in the Sagano area of Kyoto.
 
Ernst became the first artist to stay with us twice—once in summer and once in winter. Immersed in the climate, atmosphere, and changing seasons of Sagano, he created works that could only have emerged from this place—truly one-of-a-kind pieces born from the environment itself.
 
During his stay, he encountered the works of three artists—Otake Shigeo, Yoshioka Arisa, and Amano Yasushi. He recalls that these encounters gradually sparked in him a sense that something new might be possible. In addition, his engagement with the works of Yoshihara Jirō and Tōgō Seiji also became an important catalyst for shaping this project.
